
Reasons for pursuing labiaplasty extend well beyond cosmetic concerns. As a reconstructive urologist, I've always appreciated public acceptance of male circumcision when patients desire the procedure. Frequently, men desiring circumcision report pre-operative pain with intercourse, difficulty urinating or other functional problems as the motivation for undergoing the procedure. Approximately 80% of males in the US are circumcised, creating an unintentional aesthetic norm in the minds of many men.
